Barkers Vale House
Like a lot of rural properties, this project had challenges and opportunities. It was remote house site, with steep access and bushfire controls. But it also had incredible views and was sheltered by beautiful trees. The clients wanted the house, the large shed and the required services to all work together to create a harmonious farm complex.
The house is laid out to capture the views & the sun, and was designed to be built by an owner builder. The crisp detailing features charcoal blockwork walls to give texture and thermal mass. The whole complex is completely off-grid, with a large services area under the house to shelter the batteries, water pumps and all the things that make a rural property run.
